Hello! My name is Antje, since being a kid all I ever wanted is to do is ‘be creative’. What does that even mean? Creativity has endless shapes, forms and places to be implemented.
What I found out is that creating does not have to be anything, it can simply BE. When this realisation sunk in, the pressure of making something pretty, attractive or correct was gone. Things intuitively started coming out of my fingers and I trust the process, each creation is like a journey – it's full of layers and waiting to be discovered. I hope that when people look at my creations, they feel inspired and maybe even see a bit of themselves in it.
Often I include nudity, the human body is so similar yet so different, for me these are never ending sources of inspiration. Trying different materials and combining them is always fun, my preferences are; pages from World Atlas, left over coffee and gold markers/paint.
World Atlas knows many colors & patterns, which inspire me. Usually I start with a main figure in a color I feel like, later I browse through these secondhand books to find the perfect page.
Coffee became my profession in 2015, I have been working in several positions in the supply chain, from barista to importer and currently I work in a roastery in Amsterdam. As a cup of coffee usually accompanies me while I create, I tend to use the coffee as paint. Don’t be surprised by coffee related work.
Gold makes everything better. Adding some golden touches takes anything to the next level if you ask me!
